What is Duac?
Duac is a gel treatment for mild to moderate acne vulgaris on the skin, more commonly known as acne. It belongs to the class of medication called ‘anti-acne preparations’, containing a combination of two main ingredients: an antibiotic Clindamycin, which stops the bacteria involved in acne from reproducing; and Benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial and keratolytic (peeling) agent that reduces whiteheads and blackheads and also kills acne-causing bacteria. Together they fight the bacteria, treat the existing blackheads and reduce the red and inflamed acne spots.
What is in Duac?
Duac contains an antibiotic Clindamycin phosphate and Benzoyl peroxide, a peeling agent.
How do I use it?
Wash your face with a mild cleanser first so that it is free of all makeup and gently pat it dry. Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected area and rub in with fingertips once a day, making sure to keep away from your mouth, lips and nose. You should wash your hands thoroughly after using the gel. Allow the gel to dry on the skin; do not wash it off.
Do not use more than once a day and use sparing amounts. Using this medication in excess will not help your acne and can instead cause skin irritation.
How long does it take to work?
Duac can start to show its effects in about 2-5 weeks of daily use from the start of treatment. The maximum effect of the medication can be seen after about 8-12 weeks. You should not use this product for more than 12 weeks.
How do I store Duac?
Before purchase, Duac will be stored in the refrigerator. However, once you receive the item it can be stored up to 25°C out of the fridge. Duac must be discarded after 2 months.
