If you suffer from hay fever, the feeling of a runny nose, itchy eyes and a headache is all too familiar. You might be eagerly awaiting the arrival of Glastonbury this week, but with that comes the arrival of hay fever season and there’s no escaping the pollen when you are spending all day outside in the middle of a grassy field. According to The Sun, around one million people are about to get hay fever for the first time this summer!
So, if you’re one of the 13 million brits affected by hay fever, we’ve got some handy tips to ensure you are protected during Glastonbury this year.
- Buy a tent with a porch
Try to find a tent with a porch area so you can get changed and leave your clothes there after the festival when you’ll be covered in pollen. This will keep your sleeping area pollen free, which will help you to sleep better at night.
- Close your tent
It might be tempting to leave your tent open when you’re relaxing with your friends by the campsite but always zip up your tent to keep the pollen out.
- Sunglasses
Wearing sunglasses will help to keep the pollen out of your eyes, offer maximum protection and limit the likelihood of watery eyes and sneezing.
- Use coconut oil or vaseline
It might sound strange, but before you head out, line the inside of your nostrils with either coconut oil or vaseline to form a barrier and prevent any pollen from entering your nose.
- Take note of the pollen count
Find out the pollen count forecast so all of you hay fever sufferers can determine how bad your symptoms will be before you head to the festival.
- Medication
Don’t forget to carry your medications with you. Tablets and nasal sprays will provide some relief from your symptoms during the festival.
What medications are available for me?
Over the counter medications are available but if you find that they are not effective at relieving your hay fever symptoms, it might be worth making a visit to the GP, or contacting online pharmacies such as Pharmica to find a treatment suitable for you.
Telfast is an antihistamine medication which contains the active ingredient fexofenadine hydrochloride which provides fast and effective relief from symptoms of hay fever. It begins to work an hour after it’s taken and the effects can last up to 24 hours.
Nasonex is a nasal spray containing the ingredient mometasone furoate which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. It helps to reduce inflammation inside the nose, helps you to breathe and reduces symptoms of hay fever. The usual dose is two sprays into each nostril once a day.
We can deliver your medication to you in discreet packaging with same day or next day delivery so you can feel symptom free this year at Glastonbury.
