For those living with diabetes, maintaining a healthy blood glucose level is imperative. And with Accu-Chek FastClix lancets, it’s never been easier or more hygienic.

The Accu-Chek FastClix model uses a drum containing six lancets, which do not require any direct contact with skin.

Containing eleven depth settings via the use of a dial, FastClix lancets allows for optimum blood sampling and is suitable for all skin types.

The lancet itself is smooth and polished, meaning the skin penetration is gentle and virtually pain-free.

And when the drum’s running out, don’t worry - your Accu-Chek lancing device will tell you exactly how many lancets are left.

How do blood sugar tests work?

Blood glucose tests are a highly effective way for people with diabetes to understand their condition. For diabetics, blood sugar levels can change a lot in response to different foods, medications and physical exercise. Blood glucose tests allow them to keep a record of these changes and build a plan with their doctor to manage the condition.

Personal tests typically work using a lancet to prick the skin and draw a small amount of blood, usually from the fingertip. The portable glucose meters - also known as glucometers - will then tell the user their current blood glucose level.

Blood sugar changes often in people with diabetes, which is why regular testing is paramount. Keeping a record of your blood sugar will help keep it in the target range set by your doctor.

What if my blood sugar levels are too high/low?

High blood sugar is known as hyperglycaemia. It can cause symptoms such as:

  • Frequent urination
  • Drowsiness
  • Nausea
  • Extreme hunger or thirst
  • Blurry vision

Low blood sugar is known as hypoglycaemia. It can cause symptoms such as:

  • Shaking
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Sweating
  • Anxiety
  • Dizziness
  • Extreme hunger
  • Weakness and tiredness
  • Irritability
