Periods can be delayed by taking Norethisterone tablets three days before the expected start date of your next menstrual cycle.

The frequency with which an individual can safely delay menstruation depends on various factors. You can delay your period for up to 17 days by taking Norethisterone tablets three times a day. Norethisterone tablets must be taken 3 days before the period is due to start to delay menstruation.

Period delay tablets should not be used as a form of contraception. If you wish to prevent pregnancy, consult a pharmacist or doctor about taking contraceptive pills, emergency contraceptive pills (such as the morning after pill) or using barrier contraceptives such as condoms.

The side effects of period delay tablets such as Norethisterone are infrequent and do not affect a majority of women. Some women may experience the following:

• Spotting
• Stomach ache
• Lower libido
• Irregular bleeding
